Hello everyone,

My vocational background is that I've been involved with Vacuum deposition for about 8 years. First making optical filters with thermal evaporators, now running a Sputtering machine depositing AR coatings.

I'm at the stage where I'm looking to take it to the next level and put together my own machine.

My first step is focusing on the data acquisition aspects of thin film coatings. I'm looking to purchase an inexpensive DAQ board and use the comedi library written for Linux to write a program in python to display changes in the analog voltages obtained from a photomultiplier. I think this will keep me busy for awhile.

So greetings and look forward to the discussion.

A little update.

I decided to take a course in virtual instrumentation at njit. This class we be strictly using labview which is a nice piece of software, but is rather expensive for hobby use. It appears to be a great way to introduce yourself to data acquisition however.
